Yoga offers a safe and effective way of looking after both body and mind. Practice of Yoga not only promotes flexibility through stretching the muscles but also helps build strength and stamina to ensure the body is balanced and supported. Breathing and relaxation techniques help to
decrease anxiety and tension.
Most importantly: Yoga is enjoyable! You'll be surprised how much pleasure it brings to move your body in different ways and explore what it is capable of.
But I'm really inflexible!
This is the most common statement I hear. Rest assured, Yoga is not about tying yourself in knots! Flexibility is an element but so are strength, stamina and release of
tension. Yoga is about finding the right balance of them all.
I have
everyone in my classes from ex-dancers to arthritis sufferers, from 17
to 73 year olds and they all find different aspects easy or challenging.
You'll probably find achieving a 'perfect' posture becomes less
important as you begin to enjoy practicing Yoga for its own sake.
What if I'm injured or ill?
A regular Yoga
practice is a great tool for managing
illnesses or injuries, helping to alleviate symptoms but also as a
preventative tool to stop conditions from worsening.
From rehabilitation and therapy for illness through to dealing
with sports injuries to improve performance, Yoga covers a broad
spectrum. Among the many
conditions Yoga is used for are: Back ache, RSI, Sports Inuries,
Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Stress and Anxiety.
