Hatha Yoga is the physical branch of Yoga and consists
of Yoga postures (asana), breathing techniques (pranayama) and
relaxation/meditation techniques. What styles of Yoga do I teach?
There
are many different 'styles' or schools of Yoga today and it can be very
confusing. Styles vary from very dynamic flowing practices such as
Astanga to slower, more accessible styles such as Hatha.
All of them
have something to offer and suit different body types and
personalities. I have trained in and can teach a
variety of styles but I don't dictate any one set
'style' to my private clients. The good thing about Private Yoga Tuition is that it is client led and you can set the style and pace of the class. You may want a dynamic strong practice to get the blood flowing and get fit or you may want something gentle and restorative to calm, release tension or manage illness.
Below are brief descriptions of the styles of Yoga I teach.
Ashtanga/Dynamic/Vinyasa Yoga: A dynamic
flowing practice synchronising movement with breath. Be prepared to
work, tone your body but at the same time calm the mind.
Hatha Yoga: A more gentle, relaxed practice
suited to all ages and abilities. Greater time is spent holding the
postures to allow the body to relax into them.
Chair Yoga: A series of gentle exercises and
movement designed specifically for those with
limited mobility or energy.
Hot Yoga: Only available at Yogahaven. See website for details on contact page.
